In order to get the right Yamaha motorcycle parts, you have to be sure of the year model of your Yamaha motorcycle. To be sure, check the tenth digit of the VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number. The tenth digit represents the model year. Do not confuse this with the date of manufacture. The V.I.N. Number is usually found on the steering neck, below the handlebars, behind the headlight. Interpretation of this digit is as follows:

a=1980 b=1981 c=1982 d=1983 e=1984 f=1985 g=1986 h=1987 j=1988 k=1989
l=1990 m=1991 n=1992 p=1993 r=1994 s=1995 t=1996 v=1997 w=1998 x=1999
y=2000 1=2001 2=2002 3=2003 4=2004 5=2005 6=2006 7=2007 8=2008 9=2009

Other considerations can be details such geographic location or colors. If your bike was originally sold in California, many parts for your model are different and have to be of the California flavor. If you live in a different country, please be aware that some US parts may not even fit your model. Color codes for Yamaha Motorcycles can be found in different places depending on the model. Look underneath the seat, behind the side cover, underneath the gas cover.

Yamaha Parts - ATV

In order to get the right Yamaha ATV parts, you have to be sure of the year, model, and style of your Yamaha ATV. For example, if you have a four wheel drive model, be sure you're looking at the four wheel drive model catalog. If you're not quite clear on the year model, check the tenth digit of the VIN, or Vehicle Identification Number. The tenth digit represents the model year. Do not confuse this with the date of manufacture. The V.I.N. Number on Yamaha ATV's can usually be found on the frame, in the front, perhaps on a bumper cross strut. Interpretation of this digit is as follows:

a=1980 b=1981 c=1982 d=1983 e=1984 f=1985 g=1986 h=1987 j=1988 k=1989
l=1990 m=1991 n=1992 p=1993 r=1994 s=1995 t=1996 v=1997 w=1998 x=1999
y=2000 1=2001 2=2002 3=2003 4=2004 5=2005 6=2006 7=2007 8=2008 9=2009

Also, please be aware that many large ATV parts such as fenders and racks can often be bought at a lower price from a local source due to the high cost of shipping large ATV parts.

Color codes for scooters are commonly found in the trunk, under or close to the seat. V.I.N. Numbers on Yamaha Scooters are ordinarily found stamped someplace low on the scooter in the front of the rear wheel on the right side. Location may vary a bit but usually they are almost directly underneath where the driver/rider sits. The tenth digit of the V.I.N. indicates the model year and can usually be interpreted by the folowing table.

a=1980 b=1981 c=1982 d=1983 e=1984 f=1985 g=1986 h=1987 j=1988 k=1989
l=1990 m=1991 n=1992 p=1993 r=1994 s=1995 t=1996 v=1997 w=1998 x=1999
y=2000 1=2001 2=2002 3=2003 4=2004 5=2005 6=2006 7=2007 8=2008 9=2009
